It looks like there's another stylish, well-specced, and knowing SKODA, well-priced SUV on the way very shortly
They've been teasing us with carefully cropped pictures for months now, but Skoda have finally lifted the curtain on their all new Kodiaq SUV.
Named after a bear in Alaska, and based on the stunning Vision S concept we saw at Geneva, CarsIreland.ie got a sneak preview in Prague last week of what's in store when it finally arrives in Irish showrooms next February.
After the huge success of the Superb last year which wowed us all with its space, spec, and stylish new design – we've all been waiting patiently for the Czech entry to the exploding SUV segment.
It will come with the huge advantage of a seven-seat option, putting it in direct competition with the likes of the Hyundai Santa Fé, Kia Sorento, and Nissan X-Trail.
In typical SKODA style, it's absolutely enormous inside, with some of the best rear legroom we've seen in the class. The back row on the seven seater can be folded flat to create a class-leading 720 litre boot, and with the first row folded too it will be capable of carrying items up to three metres long.
Despite its generous interior dimensions, we were pleased to see that it doesn't look all that bulky in the metal, and the streamlined styling does a good job of disguising its considerable length. That said, we'd like to think parking sensors will be a standard feature.
We won't have full details of Irish spec and pricing for another while, but trim levels are expected to mirror that of the Superb, which means we can expect a very generous level of kit across the board.
What we do know is that it's set to be the new flagship model for the brand, and the most connected one to date with tonnes of new tech on board. The new SKODA Connect online services will provide top of the line Infotainment and Navigation systems as well as additional safety features including an emergency call function which will automatically call emergency services if an airbag deploys.
So it looks like there's another stylish, well-specced, and knowing Skoda, well-priced SUV on the way very shortly and if you're considering your options at the moment, it might just be worth waiting until February before you make your mind up.
And of course we'll have a full review and test drive when it arrives on CarsIreland.ie.
