Will travel up to 124km on pure electric drive
Škoda’s latest generation Superb has officially arrived in Irish showrooms, offering both Hatch and Combi estate models for test drives. The familiar engine lineup includes a 1.5 TSI mild-hybrid and a HVO-compatible 2.0 TDI diesel, both paired with 7-speed DSG automatic transmissions.
A major highlight is the new Plug-in Hybrid Superb, boasting a WLTP electric range of 124 kilometers, which is expected to draw significant interest from fleet and retail customers. This comes as sales of Plug-in Hybrid vehicles in Ireland have seen a 22.3% year-on-year increase, a trend that shows no signs of slowing.
The Superb PHEV features a 25.7 kWh battery with DC fast charging capability of up to 50 kW, allowing a 10-80% charge in just 26 minutes. Its 85 kW electric motor, combined with a 1.5 TSI petrol engine and 6-speed DSG transmission, delivers a total output of 150 kW (202 bhp) and 350 Nm of torque, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 8.1 seconds. On electric power alone, the Superb PHEV can travel up to 124 kilometers according to the WLTP cycle, with an annual road tax of just €120. The Superb PHEV is currently available to order in the Combi estate version, with the Hatch model arriving in Spring 2025.
Ray Leddy, Head of Marketing and Product at Škoda Ireland, says: “The Superb has been the standard-bearer of Škoda’s range for more than 20 years. Many competitors have abandoned the large saloon and estate segment, leaving retail and fleet customers with only premium brand options. We are confident the new Superb can compete toe to toe with the best premium German cars on quality and refinement while surpassing them in terms of spaciousness and value. We are particularly excited with the introduction of the new Superb PHEV with a 124 km WLTP fully electric range. The Superb Combi PHEV can provide a fully electric daily commute for the vast majority of Irish drivers, without any range anxiety for those who aren’t ready to make the change to a fully electric vehicle”
The Superb Combi PHEV comes in three versions: the entry-level “Selection” starting at €54,385, the “Selection Plus” at €56,885, which includes ambient lighting and ventilated leather seats with a massage function, and the top-of-the-line “Laurin & Klement” model at €63,545. Škoda is offering finance options from 0% HP or 1.9% PCP, with early ordering recommended for those seeking delivery in early 2025.
