Here are some of the ways you can get involved and help save lives on Irish roads.
Irish Road Safety Week 1 - 7 October 2018
It’s Irish Road Safety Week and the Road Safety Authority (RSA) are organising a wide range of events across the country to help make our roads safer for everyone. Here are some of the ways you can get involved and help save lives on Irish roads.
Avail of a free tyre check
Irish Tyre Industry Association (ITIA) members around Ireland are inviting all motorists to call in for a free tyre pressure check and thread depth inspection during Road Safety Week. You can find your nearest ITIA registered dealer here: www.itia.ie
Make sure your car is winter ready
Listen out for the ‘winter ready’ radio advert that will be aired throughout the week with tips on getting your car prepared to cope with colder weather.
Attend a workshop
This year’s topics include pedestrian safety and driving for work and will be held in a variety of locations. The RSA Shuttle and Rollover and National Road Safety Education Service will also be travelling the length and breadth of the country, delivering road safety education programmes to crèches, schools, universities, workplaces and communities throughout the week. You can find details on these on www.rsa.ie
Get the kids involved
Friday is National “Beep Beep Day” and a chance for Pre-schoolers to get involved in road safety. You can order free road safety packs for your pre-school class here: https://beepbeepday.rsaleadinglights.ie/ The RSA ‘StreetSmart’ brings road safety to life in a fun way for young children aged between 4 and 12. Using a ‘streetscape’ map, children wander the street scene and learn more about important road safety skills. Keep an eye out for further details on www.rsa.ie and social media. The RSA will also be distributing its ‘Back to School’ pack to secondary students, while Seatbelt Sheriff and Hi Glo Silver will be making an appearance at primary level.
Check it fits
Check it Fits, the RSA’s free child car seat checking service in partnership with Toyota, will be visiting locations around the country during Irish Road Safety Week. For more details on these and other locations please visit the Check it Fits section of www.rsa.ie and keep an eye on social media for further details and giveaways throughout the week.
