Nissan strengthen their Qashqai line up with new e-Power
The new Nissan Qashqai e-Power offers a compelling blend of electric efficiency and versatile crossover practicality.
Bootspace and backseat legroom are about average for the class with enough space for your typical family. Lots of practical features enhance the cabin such as a handy false floor in the boot and several USB ports for charging gadgets in the front and back.
The e-Power range comes generously equipped from the ground up with 18 inch alloy wheels as standard as well as electric lumbar support for the driver, rain sensing window wipers and a raft of tech safety features such as emergency braking, blind spot intervention and lane departure warning. The standard of infotainment will depend on the trim level you go for. The entry level ePower gets an 8 inch display but you’ll need to upgrade to the SVE model for the upgraded 12.3 inch system.
Nissan's e-Power system offers an EV-like driving experience without the need for regular charging. It's essentially a reverse hybrid, using a 1.5L petrol engine solely to power an electric motor. This setup provides punchy acceleration, lower local emissions, and a quiet electric drive. While it improves fuel economy compared to traditional gasoline engines, it falls short of full EV or plug-in hybrid efficiency. The handling is good, with a low center of gravity for stability in corners, and the safety systems are effective yet unobtrusive. Overall, it's an enhancement of the previous Qashqai model, offering a cleaner and more serene driving experience.
The Nissan Qashqai tends to hold its value famously well on the second hand market and the e-Power comes with a three year warranty as standard.
