Mercedes-Benz have launched another addition to their growing Mercedes-EQ range, the new EQS SUV will place alongside the recently introduced EQS saloon. The latest SUV tops a growing line of all-electric models produced by the luxury car makers.
The EQS SUV comes equipped with all of the advanced features and characteristics found in the recently introduced EQS and Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Optional in its case is the additional availability of a third row of seating that increases its passenger carrying capacity to seven persons.
Inside, its generous headroom gives the EQS SUV a spacious, airier feel that befits its SUV identity. Fixtures, seating, and interior fit-and-finish are of an expected high standard. Tech elements, trim and passenger comfort features are compatible with those of its siblings, both in terms of luxury and functionality. In keeping with other models in its class, a visually dominant interior feature is its dashmounted infotainment MBUX Hyperscreen, face of what has become a vastly advanced driver assistance system now equipped with artificial intelligence and a ‘learning’ capability. Another welcome inclusion is the acclaimed ‘Hey Mercedes’ feature that now supports 27 languages. A large stowage compartment below the centre console and a predominance of other useful storage spaces add to the EQS SUV’s practicality.
Powered by Mercedes-Benz’s own-manufactured batteries – offering ‘better charging’ performance and ‘significantly higher’ energy density – the EQS SUV has an operating range of up to 639 kms (WLTP) depending on equipment and configuration, and a power output of up to 400 kW (a performance helped by lightweight components and a Cd value from 0.20). Available fast-charging systems include one that delivers an extra 250kms (WLTP) power in just 15 minutes.
Describing it as a ‘welcome addition to our model line-up’ Ciaran Allen, sales manager for Mercedes-Benz passenger cars in Ireland commented:“With levels of design, technology, equipment and luxury that are ‘guaranteed to be the hallmark of future Mercedes-Benz production’, the EQS SUV is ideal for those high-end customers whose requirement is for a vehicle that meets demand for emissions-free motoring within a top-end design that combines deluxe driving with surprising agility, deep-down power and off-road performance.”
Three model variants are available: EQS 450+, EQS 450 4MATIC, EQS 500 4MATIC and EQS 580 4MATIC. 4MATIC provides an all-wheel-drive version (with motors on front and rear axles).
Prices in Ireland are from €139,880 (EQS 450+), €144,145 (EQS 450 4MATIC), €155,280 (EQS 500 4MATIC) and €168,265 (EQS 580 4MATIC).
