Diesel versions arrive in April, while PHEV models will arrive in July
Kia Ireland has unveiled details of the facelifted 7-seat Sorento model, set to arrive in Ireland in early 2024. The model, available in diesel and petrol plug-in hybrid (PHEV) versions, is scheduled for release in April and July, respectively. The redesigned Sorento showcases an exterior refresh, incorporating vertical headlights and a relocated logo for an assertive SUV aesthetic. The interior features a horizontal design with minimal mood lighting and a curved display for a modern ambiance. Notable additions include a multi-mode touchscreen panel, power-adjustable, heated, and ventilated front row seats, and sustainable cabin materials such as artificial leather and recycled plastic.
In terms of drivetrains, the Sorento offers a 2.2 diesel engine with an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission and a petrol plug-in hybrid with a 1.6 T-GDI engine, a 13.8 kWh battery, and a six-speed automatic transmission with 4WD as standard. The model prioritizes safety and technology, featuring dual panoramic integrated displays, over-the-air software updates, wireless phone charging, USB-C ports, fingerprint recognition, and a Digital Key for smartphone or smartwatch access.
Equipped with Kia’s Advanced Driving Assistance Safety (ADAS) features, the new Sorento includes Highway Drive Assist 2.0 (HDA2), Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 (FCA2), Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control (NSCC), Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA), Lane Keep Assist (LKAS), and up to seven airbags. The model is set to be available for sale in Ireland from April 2024, with pricing and specifications to be announced early next year. As with all Kia models, the new Sorento includes Kia’s standard seven-year, 150,000-kilometre warranty.
