We drove the updated MINI range in Mallorca last week - watch our video to see what's new
Overview
One of the most instantly recognisable cars on the road, the Mini Hatch might be a small car but it's got a huge fan base. Now into its third generation, it's just been given a mid-life facelift - we went along to the international launch in Mallorca to see what's new.
Amongst the changes are some new colour options (Emerald Grey, Starlight Blue and Solaris Orange), a range of new wheel designs and some rather controversial new tail lights, which, in a nod to MINI's proud British heritage, come in the shape of LED Union Jacks.
We know what you're thinking, but don't worry, Irish customers will be able to deselect them as a no-cost option.
It's also been given an interior refresh, and the fun styling continues inside the cabin with a choice of new upholstery options. An upgraded 6.5 inch infotainment system is now standard – which might look retro with its funky rounded design, but is far from it in terms of technology. It's fully compatible with all the latest smartphone integration including Apple CarPlay, which will be available as an optional extra, as will SatNav, a reversing camera, MINI online services, and for the first time, wireless phone charging.
Personalisation has been taken to the next level with a fun 3D Printing option which will allow you to retrofit various parts of the car like the door sill or passenger dashboard with a word or phrase of your choice.
