Unique mental health awareness initiative

Overview

Gowan Auto, the exclusive importer and distributor of Alfa Romeo, Citroën, DS Automobiles, Fiat, Fiat Professional, Honda, Jeep, Opel, and Peugeot in the Republic of Ireland, has announced a partnership with the Elephant in the Room movement. As the Official Vehicle Sponsors, Gowan Auto supports this initiative in aid of Samaritans.

The Elephant in the Room, founded by mental health advocate Brent Pope, along with Dave Southern and Eoin Byrne, promotes mental well-being in the workplace through a unique social enterprise. The movement involves commissioning elephant sculptures, decorated by professional artists, and displaying them in workplaces to actively demonstrate a commitment to mental health awareness.

Gowan Auto presented the charity with a new Opel Movano to transport the commissioned elephant sculptures across the country. This support aligns with Gowan Auto's commitment to promoting mental well-being among its 140 employees at its Distribution Centre.

Dave Southern expressed gratitude, stating, "We sincerely thank Opel and Gowan Auto for their extreme generosity in actively supporting us in such a practical way." Brent Pope emphasized the movement's goal to transform workplaces into environments where mental well-being is a priority.

Last year, the Elephant in the Room movement raised €30,000 for Samaritans Ireland, and they plan a Gala Corporate Event fundraiser in 2024. The goal is to raise funds for Samaritans' vital services and create awareness of their continuous support for people facing challenges 24/7.
