Chinese brands are certainly making their presence felt on the Irish market .

BYD, described as the “world’s leading electric vehicle manufacturer”, is coming to Ireland this year.

One of the first BYD models to arrive will be its Atto 3 midsize SUV.

Motor Distributors Limited (MDL), currently Mercedes’ importer for Ireland, has been appointed as the Irish distributor.

MDL plans to establish a dealer network to provide “localised sales and aftersales services” to BYD customers.

The partnership is a major boost for MDL and will add an estimated 150 additional jobs, bringing total employment to around 450. These will include sales, technical and customer support roles. Recruitment will begin immediately.
