Overview

BMW has introduced the new M2, enhancing driving pleasure with compact dimensions, improved chassis technology, and a power increase of 20 horsepower. Priced from €115,760, the new M2 will be available for order at BMW retailers across Ireland, with deliveries starting in autumn 2024.

  • Performance: The new BMW M2 features a high-revving 480 hp straight-six engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, achieving a fuel consumption of 8.17 – 8.0 l/100km and CO2 emissions of 223 – 218 g/km (WLTP cycle). It offers a 0-100 km/h time of 4.0 seconds with the standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission or 4.2 seconds with the optional six-speed manual gearbox. Top speed can be increased to 284 km/h with the optional M Driver’s Package.

  • Design: The M2 boasts bold exterior design accents, including a large BMW kidney grille and LED headlights. The rear features a sculpted diffuser and twin tailpipes. Customers can choose from 14 exterior paint colors, including new options like Sao Paulo Yellow and BMW Individual finishes such as Java Green and Twilight Purple.

  • Interior and Technology: The refreshed interior includes BMW Operating System 8.5, a 12.3-inch information display, and a 14.9-inch control display. The M2 offers a new steering wheel design and optional M Carbon bucket seats. Standard features include adaptive M suspension, M Servotronic steering, and M Traction Control.

  • Production and Availability: The BMW M2 will be manufactured at the BMW Group Plant in San Luis Potosí, Mexico, starting in August 2024, with deliveries to Irish customers beginning in the autumn of the same year.

Enhanced Powertrain and Driving Dynamics

The new M2’s six-cylinder in-line engine delivers maximum torque between 2,650 and 6,130 rpm. The standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic enhances performance, while the optional six-speed manual gearbox offers a more direct driving experience. Both transmissions improve acceleration and dynamic driving performance, supported by a robust technological base and racing-inspired components.

Exterior and Interior Design

The new M2 features distinctive design elements, including a horizontal kidney grille and aerodynamic enhancements. The compact, athletic profile is complemented by optional M Carbon roof and striking wheel designs. Inside, the BMW Operating System 8.5 integrates seamlessly with the digital displays, providing intuitive control over various functions. Optional interior trim elements and advanced seating options enhance comfort and aesthetics.

Advanced Features and Equipment

Standard equipment includes adaptive M suspension, two-zone automatic climate control, ambient lighting, a harman/kardon sound system, wireless charging, and smartphone integration. Safety and driver-assistance systems include front collision warning, cruise control with brake function, lane departure warning, and park distance control. Optional features such as Active Cruise Control with Stop&Go and an electrically operated sunroof further elevate the driving experience.
