Brand debuts its new ‘e-hybrid’ branding
Audi is streamlining its plug-in hybrid model naming with the introduction of ‘e-hybrid’ branding, replacing the previous ‘TFSI e’ designation. The change debuts with the new Audi A5 e-hybrid, marking the next step in Audi’s push for greater electrification and efficiency in its lineup. The new A5 plug-in hybrid models combine dynamic performance with a significantly increased electric range, offering up to 109 kilometres* of emission-free driving.
Built on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC), the Audi A5 e-hybrid is available in both Avant and Saloon body styles, each offered in two power levels: 220 kW and 270 kW. The hybrid powertrain pairs a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine with an electric motor, delivering strong performance and improved efficiency. The high-voltage battery has been upgraded to 25.9 kWh, a 45% increase in capacity, reducing charging times and enabling more electric-only driving.
Audi’s intelligent hybrid management system optimises energy use by seamlessly switching between electric and hybrid modes. The system includes predictive efficiency features, adjusting recuperation and battery usage based on navigation data and traffic conditions. In EV mode, the A5 e-hybrid prioritises electric driving, while hybrid mode allows for optimal energy distribution, ensuring efficient operation over longer journeys.
Standard equipment across the A5 e-hybrid range includes progressive steering, MMI navigation, a panoramic display, and advanced driver assistance systems. The 270 kW variant comes with an S line exterior package, black styling elements, and privacy glass, enhancing its sporty appeal. With a starting price of €57,500 for the A5 Saloon e-hybrid quattro and €61,400 for the Avant, these new models offer a balance of efficiency, performance, and premium comfort.
To support its growing plug-in hybrid range, Audi Ireland has introduced the “All in One. Twice as Good.” campaign, offering a competitive 3.9% APR finance rate across all PHEV models. This offer runs until April 30th at Audi dealerships nationwide, giving Irish motorists an opportunity to experience the benefits of plug-in hybrid driving firsthand.
