Much loved premium SUV gets a makeover
The Audi Q5 SUV has been a popular choice in the midsize SUV segment for over 15 years. Audi now introduces the latest generation of the Q5, which is more modern and dynamic. This new model is the first SUV based on the Premium Platform Combustion (PPC) and is available with efficient petrol and diesel engines enhanced by MHEV Plus technology for better fuel economy. The Q5 also features advanced infotainment and driver assistance systems, customizable digital light signatures, and a practical, spacious interior.
The sporty Audi SQ5 joins the lineup, and future plug-in hybrid variants will expand the range further. The Q5 sets new standards in the midsize premium SUV market with its sporty design, versatile features, and future-proof technology. Audi's E³ 1.2 electronics architecture provides advanced connectivity and digitalization in all new models.
The Q5 SUV shares the PPC platform with the new Audi A5, allowing Audi to deliver high-volume models with advanced technology across different segments. The platform's flexibility helps Audi to create distinct characteristics for future models.
Inside, the new Q5 offers a spacious and comfortable cabin with improved head and legroom. The rear seat is fully adjustable, enhancing either trunk volume or passenger comfort. The rear seats can also fold down to increase cargo space to 1,473 liters. Additional practical features include larger storage compartments, multiple charging ports (including high-power options), and an inductive charging tray.
The exterior design of the third-generation Q5 is sportier with a high shoulder line, dynamic headlights, and a wide stance. The car is available in two versions, SE and S line, with the S model having a distinct appearance. There are 11 color options, including exclusive finishes for the S line and S models, and wheel sizes range from 17 to 21 inches, depending on the model and engine.
Inside, the Q5 features a clean, user-focused design with a digital stage including the Audi MMI displays and OLED technology. Sustainable materials like Kaskade and Dinamica are used for the S line seats. The dynamic interaction light (IAL) enhances user experience with LED strips and is part of the Ambient Lighting Package Plus.
Audi has also upgraded the lighting design, featuring 3D rear lights, digital OLED combination rear lights 2.0, and new safety features. The Q5's MHEV Plus system with a 48-volt electrical system supports the combustion engine, reduces emissions, and enhances performance and comfort. Electric maneuvering and parking are possible, and the system allows for gradual electrification, with plug-in hybrids to follow later.
At launch, the Audi Q5 will offer three engine options: a 2.0 TFSI, a 2.0 TDI, and a top-of-the-line V6 TFSI in the SQ5. All models feature MHEV Plus technology and a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch transmission. The Q5 also includes advanced driver assistance systems to improve safety and convenience.
The Q5's infotainment system uses Android Automotive OS with over-the-air updates for the latest Audi connect services. The available Bang & Olufsen Premium Sound System offers an immersive audio experience.
The new Audi Q5 and SQ5 are set to launch in Ireland in the first quarter of 2025, with orders opening in September 2024. Prices start at €71,115 for the Q5 SUV TFSI, €75,600 for the Q5 TDI quattro, and €111,850 for the SQ5.
